Visit to Papua New Guinea
6 – 9 September 2017 Office of Agricultural Affairs, Canberra joined the Thai delegation led by H.E. Jirachai Pankrasin, Thai Ambassador to Australia, to visit Papua New Guinea (PNG) with an aim to exploring trade and investment opportunities. The program was coordinated by Royal Thai Consulate General, Port Moresby. The delegate from Thai Department of Fisheries, Dr. Chamnarn Pongsri, Deputy Director-General, and Minister Counsellor (Agriculture) had a meeting with National Fisheries Authority (NFA) to discuss the proposed draft MOU on Fisheries between Thailand and PNG. The MOU was expected to be finalized and signed by the end of 2017.
The Thai delegation also met with executive officials from Department of Commerce and Industry, Department of Planning and Monitoring, Department of Petroleum and Energy and Department of Agriculture and Livestock. Thai Trade Seminar was organized and attended by a number of PNG private sectors in the areas of business, investment and tourisms. The activities were a success and have attracted interest of the parties concerned.
